Las Vegas, NV (May, 2024)—FreePower, the company setting the new standard for wireless charging, made its hospitality debut at HD Expo + Conference this week, showing its latest technology solution, which turns any surface into a wireless charger. At this year’s event, FreePower left with one of the industry’s top awards: the International Interior Design Association (IIDA) Product Design Award, in the category of Artwork, Signage and Accent Pieces. FreePower was also a finalist in the technology category for the HD Expo Awards this year.
Fresh from its official launch at the 2024 Kitchen & Bath Industry Show (KBIS) in February – and honored with the esteemed Best in Show award – FreePower is revolutionizing how we charge both at home and in the hospitality world. The IIDA’s HD Expo Product Design competition recognizes products that excel in seven different criteria, including aesthetics, cost and value, design innovation, environmental responsibility, need, technical advancements, and usage. This year’s jury of design professionals included Rottet Studio Principal and Design Director, Chris Evans; HOK Principal and Practice Leader, Kelly Lott; and BRPH Chief Design and Creative Leader, Cristi Moore, IIDA.
“As industry newcomers, we are so thrilled with the reception from the community,” said Jake Slatnick, CEO and founder of FreePower. “We had an incredible launch at KBIS, and we’re so excited that the hospitality space sees the same potential in our technology that we do . Everyone wants to eliminate excess cables and clutter in high-traffic spaces; FreePower is the ideal solution for streamlining functionality without disrupting the overall aesthetic design. We’ve seen a surge in orders throughout the show, and can’t wait to see these projects come to life over the next few months.”
FreePower puts seamless, elegant, and functional power at people’s fingertips, from restaurants and bars to hotel room nightstands and other high-use spaces, creating memorable guest experiences that offer the best in innovation and convenience. FreePower worked closely with the design and fabricator community to consider every aspect of embedding its wireless charging technology into countertops, from the stone's cut-out requirements to visual cues and customization.
